Deheubarth was created following 2013 Live Evil festival which marked the end of Ghast. It began as the one-man project of Myrggh during the sodden Welsh winter of 2013/14 using basic means and little recording knowledge, to create the Darkwinter Possession demo, released during the solar eclipse of 2015. Drenched in reverb to mask the roughness of quality, the concept was inspired by the individual and collective human curse of rumination and worry, and our ability to create our own Hell in the most innocuous of circumstances. Condemned to live not in the moment, but in a catastrophic otherworld beneath the mundane, where nature’s beauty is obscured by a sense of overwhelming threat, a blend of anxiety-ridden black metal and melancholic doom is the most appropriate medium of expression.
With assistance from live members gratefully received, Deheubarth performances were soon inflicted on the world, including appearances at Fellfoot Wood in Cumbria, on the border of the ancient kingdom of Deheubarth itself, and in our imperialist capital.
In 2019, the line-up was complete, reconnecting bandmates of some 20+ years previously, and overcoming barriers of distance and all thrown at us in ‘the thick of life’. Deheubarth is:
Myrggh: Vocals/guitar
Idna: Bass
Havenless: Drums
